Govt advocate appointed for Arkavathi panel

Additional Advocate General A S Ponnanna has been appointed the special government advocate to represent the state government before the Justice H S Kempanna Commission of Inquiry, looking into the charges of corruption and illegalities in the notification of the re-modified scheme of the Arkavathi Layout.

According to a government order issued on Tuesday, Ponnanna can utilise the services of a junior counsel as well. The commission, headed by retired judge Kempanna was formed by the State government on August 17, 2014. The commission’s six-month term ends on February 17. The panel has till date received more than 60 complaints. The Commission, according to sources, is likely to seek a six-month extension.
