Bengaluru: The Lokayukta police have booked a government engineer and two private individuals for illegally selling a Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) site in northern Bengaluru, causing a loss of Rs 10 crore to the government.

The suspects are Syed Asghar, Assistant Executive Engineer with KHB (Yelahanka New Town), and Govindaiah and Harini Satish from T Dasarahalli.

According to the Lokayukta police, Asghar sold KHB Site 271 ‘A’ Sector, measuring 50.5x80 ft, to Govindaiah and Harini, causing wrongful loss to the government.

A senior officer said that notices had been issued to the suspects to appear for inquiry, while the role of a third person was yet to be confirmed.

On Wednesday, the Lokayukta police raided the KHB’s Yelahanka New Town office and the residences of Asghar and Govindaiah. Officials said that the searches yielded documents and photocopies related to the site.

The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
