Bengaluru: The Bengaluru railway police seized 970 grams of hash oil worth Rs 70 lakh at the Yelahanka railway station on July 26.

Two people, including a juvenile, were arrested.

The police identified the main suspect as Kantubuktha Appalaraju, 34, from Andhra Pradesh. He and the juvenile were found sitting suspiciously with a backpack near a shop on Platform 1. On questioning, they admitted the bag contained hash oil.

The Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) team confirmed the substance, and a case was registered under sections 8(c), 20(b), and 2(c) of the NDPS Act, 1985.

During interrogation, the accused said that they received the hash oil from a man named Thangaati Bharath in Vijayanagara, Andhra Pradesh. He instructed them to deliver it at the Yelahanka station. They had travelled on the Prashanthi Express and were waiting for the recipient.

The police are searching for Bharath. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Yathish N, Superintendent of Police, Railways, Bengaluru.
