The Karnataka High Court has directed the civic body to show concrete and substantial results in cleaning the city by the end of the month.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Narasimha Murthy and others, who have moved the court stating that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) has put up a garbage bin at the entrance of the Amma Bhagavan Temple in Domlur (Stage 2) without the knowledge of the temple authorities. The accumulated garbage was causing great inconvenience to the devotees and the public at large.

The petitioners have sought that BBMP removes the bin and shift it to a proper dump ward, adding that the garbage frequently gets strewn along the temple premises resulting in stench.

They have stated that they had approached the authorities to shift it to the civic amenities site of Shankarnag Park and Indira Canteen situated next to the temple but as they did not get any response they approached the court. The matter has been adjourned to October 31, by when the court expects BBMP to show substantial results.
