The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday passed an interim order on a petition challenging the impugned order passed by the state government accepting the resignation tendered by a doctor.

Justice A S Bopanna passed the order on a petition filed by petitioner M K Baldevkrishna.

According to Baldevkrishna, S K Srinivas is serving as a pediatrician at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospitals.

On February 1, Srinivas applied for leave and tendered his resignation on March 19. However, the state government, on April 13, passed an impugned order, accepting his resignation with retrospective effect from February 1.

The petitioner further stated that on March 9, Srinivas filed an application, seeking candidature to contest from the Shimoga Rural constituency.

Baldevkrishna contended that when Srinivas filed his application, he was serving as a public servant, which is in violation of the model code of conduct.
