The High Court on Saturday refused to grant stay on the criminal proceedings initiated against T Nataraj, joint director, Town Planning (North), Chowde Gowda, retired director, Town Planning, and two engineers who are among the 20 engineers suspended by the government for granting permission to construct houses on stormwater drains.

The houses are now being demolished in a massive drive taken up by the BBMP. The petitioners have approached the court, questioning the FIR filed by Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF). Justice Anand Byrareddy refused to grant stay and directed the petitioners to appear before BMTF on Monday.  The bench also passed an order that the petitioners will not be arrested till their appearance before BMTF.
