The High Court of Karnataka on Friday lambasted the state government for the lackadaisical attitude of its officials while hearing a case related to taxation and financing on Friday.

A division bench of acting Chief Justice H G Ramesh and P S Dinesh Kumar expressed displeasure at the government for the inordinate delay in filing submissions, the lack of preparation and the casual approach of officials.  The government had filed an appeal after a delay of 400 days and didn’t cite sufficient reasons to justify the delay, which led to Justice Dinesh Kumar asking it to wake up and become serious or else the court will have to take the matter into its own hands.

The court sarcastically asked the chief secretary to take care of his health and warned that if officials remained lackadaisical, the court would have to take further action.
