Petitioner M V Guruprasad and others, students of a five-year law course, have moved the High Court stating that if permission was not granted to them to carry over the subjects to next year admission, they would be forced to join the course afresh, as Bangalore University would be amalgamated with Karnataka State Law University.

However, Bangalore University filed a memo on Thursday stating that it would ensure admission to students who have not cleared six subjects, but that the same would not apply to students who have failed in seven or more subjects.

Justice Mohana Shantanagowdar, who heard the matter, dismissed the petition by the students in the wake of submission of the memo.
