The Head constable of the Kamakshipalya Traffic police station was suspended over bribery charges recently.

The suspect, Puttaswamy, was accused of having received a bribe instead of slapping a fine against a traffic violator.

He took a bribe from a helmetless rider, instead of slapping a fine, near the Somanahalli Junction.

The normative fine for helmetless riding is Rs 100, but the head constable let the rider go after receiving a bribe of Rs 50.

A passerby video recorded the whole incident in his phone and uploaded the same on Facebook. “Puttaswamy has been suspended, based on the evidence from the uploaded video,” said the Transport department Deputy Commissioner of Police S Girish.
