The High Court of on Karnataka on Tuesday asked the prosecution to summon the doctor who could validate the presence of cyanide in one of ‘Cyanide’ Mohan’s victim’s body.
Mohan has moved the court seeking acquittal in a series of rape and murder cases against him.
During the hearing of his appeal, a division bench comprising Justices Ravi Malimath and John Michael Cunha observed that “Mohan believed that he was more competent than any lawyer to defend himself and he was the only one who knew thoroughly about his case.”
Mohan, a teacher by profession has allegedly raped and poisoned 20 young women to death between 2003 and 2009. Mohan used to lure women into marriage and kill them after giving them ‘anti pregnancy’ pills laced with cyanide. Mohan has been convicted in three cases and was awarded death sentence by a lower court in 2013.
The bench adjourned the hearing to Wednesday.
