A 27-year-old goon was hacked to death by an armed gang near the Jamia Masjid in Yeshwantpur on Saturday.

Vijay alias Viji, a resident of Mathikere, had multiple criminal cases in various police stations.

Police said Vijay, was returning home after dinner by foot around 3.30 am when he was attacked.

He had heated arguments with friends, who attacked him with lethal weapons stabbing him repeatedly before fleeing.

Vijay died of excessive bleeding.

A few people headed to the mosque found Vijay and alerted the police. Police shifted the body for postmortem.

Investigations revealed that Kirik Manja and Shivraju, Vijay’s rivals, may be involved. While verifying the CCTV footage, police found the duo moving suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.

Yeshwantpur police registered a case of murder and efforts are on to track the accused.
