A 35-year-old history-sheeter was murdered in Banaswadi on Tuesday night.

According to the police, Venkatesh, a history-sheeter, had several murder, attempt to murder and extortion cases against him at the Adugodi police station. He was out on bail and lived in Tamil Nadu for the last few months.

A few days ago, he came to the City to meet a friend, Rajagopal. On Tuesday around 9 pm, Venkatesh and Rajagopal met another friend in Banaswadi. They were heading back, when four unidentified persons on two bikes tailed them. One of them pulled out a sharp-edged weapon and hit Venkatesh on the head and fled the spot.

Venkatesh, who was bleeding profusely, collapsed. Rajagopal alerted the police, who rushed to the spot to find that Venkatesh had succumbed to his injuries.

Rajagopal told the police that he did not know anything about the assailants and that they were wearing helmets. An old rivalry could have led to the incident, suspected the police.
