Flagging off the rally, Urban Development minister S Suresh Kumar said he would recommend to the health minister to appoint a Homoeopathic doctor at each primary health centre (PHCs) in the State, so that this system of medicine penetrated the villages.
Not popular in villages
Dr A B Jayanth, president of the Homoeopathic Medical Association of India - Karnataka Branch, said although Homoeopathic medicines were quite popular in the cities, the system of medicine had not made its presence felt in the smaller towns and villages.
There are nearly 11,000 Homoeopathic doctors in the State, with nearly 1,000 in Bangalore alone.
Nearly 500 doctors graduate in Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) course from 14 colleges in the State every year, Jayanth added.
