A total of 1.2 lakh roses have been used to design this floral Qutb Minar. Designed by artist Kalidas, it is the centre of attraction at the horticulture show. Apart from this, another masterpiece is ‘Cauvery Maathe,’ also designed with  roses. The show was officially inaugurated by Minister for Medical Education Ramachandra Gowda and the Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Veeranna Mattikatti. Explaining about the two floral arrangements, Joint Director of Horticulture Department Narayana Swamy said, the variety of roses used to design the two structures will not fade for another eight to ten days, and will stay fresh till the completion of the show.

Amazed to see the two floral marvels, Minister Ramachandra Gowda said the replicas reflected the BJP’s secular bent of mind. He maintained that last year too, a replica of Taj Mahal was made.

Cobra in Glass House

A six-foot long cobra added drama to the event, as it surfaced right inside the Lalbagh Glass House, where the show is in progress. The cobra was reportedly roaming in the vicinity from morning and many had seen it. Later, the officials of the Horticulture department summoned a snake charmer from the forest cell of the BBMP, who caught the reptile.
