Many colleges close for a month or so in December at the end of a semester and because of Christmas and New Year holidays.
Shwetha H K, a second year BA student from Seshadripuram college, says, “My college has declared almost one-and-a-half month holidays after our semester is over. I am planning to do an internship as it will help me hone my communication skills. I am also planning to go for other hobby classes and meet up with friends during the holidays.”
The holidays are very precious for many students, as they can catch up with things they were not able to do during college. Naveen a second year student at CMS says “Holidays are the only time when students get to do what they want to do. If not the entire year is lost in attending classes, studying for exam's, completing projects, going for tuitions and so on. I am preparing for a competitive exam and attending other classes, which will help me in future.”
There are some students who spend their entire holidays with old friends and cousins who stay in different places. Navleena, a second year MBA student from CMR college says, “I am going to spend my holidays travelling, I love to spend time with my grandparents, meet up with other cousins, school mates and so on. These vacations are very helpful, as it gives me a break from my monotonous life style.I feel rejuvenated when I am back after a holiday and can concentrate on my studies.”
Most students are of the opinion that the holidays which they get during their college days are the best and should make the best use of it. Once they step out of college and start working they will not find any time for any extra curricular activities. Hence, most students use these holidays to make their wishes come true.
