Former beauty queen Parvathy Omanakuttan confesses that she has always been a movie buff and loves the big screen. But unlike others who plunged into tinsel town the minute they were crowned with a tiara, Parvathy took her time and waited for something big to come her way.

And if one goes by her latest release Billa 2, where she plays a substantial role opposite Tamil actor Ajit, the wait has been worth it. “There’s a great amount of excitement when people walk up to me and appreciate my work. After Billa 2 happened, a lot of people in the industry have started approaching me to work in films. I have always been open to doing films. Maybe there’s a disconnect because I live in Mumbai and people thought I was not approachable,” Parvathy tells Metrolife.

Parvathy has also dubbed for the film and she says that this is something she has always wanted to do. “I always wanted to lend my voice to the characters I play. It’s a special feeling when I hear it on the big screen. And people who know me connect instantly with my voice,” shares Parvathy.

About her role, she says that she plays a girl who relocates from a village to a City to live with her mother’s younger brother. “This young girl is possessive about her uncle (played by Ajit) and doesn’t like him talking to other women. I speak Malayalam quite fluently so Tamil came pretty easily,” she explains.

Parvathy is not very choosy but there are a couple of movies she has really liked, such as Nadodigal, 22 Female Kottayam, ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Black’. “These are films that are truly different and their strength lies in their characterisation,” Parvathy points out.

She confesses that she really liked Deepika’s look in ‘Cocktail’ and can’t wait to see Priyanka’s makeover in Barfi. “I’ve always admired Madhuri Dixit. I would also like to shake a leg with actor Vijay and I like the romantic in Suriya,” adds Parvathy.

Parvathy is frequently asked about her marriage plans and she says that she’s firm on building her career before making any commitment. “Love takes up a lot of time; I am a die-hard romantic and would like to give enough time for love. But there’s no spark yet,” she signs off.
