Income Tax officials conducted searches at the premises belonging to two entertainment companies.

Sources said that the taxmen conducted searches in the offices of DNA Entertainment Network Pvt Ltd for alleged tax evasion. The companies are owned by Thimmaiah Venkata Vardhana, grandson of former chief minister Kengal Hanumanthaiah.

According to sources, the searches and surveys are being conducted in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. DNA Entertainment Network is an event management company and has organised several high profile events, including the Indian Premier League. The company had recently organised the diamond jubilee celebration of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. The searches are aimed at suspected evasion of tax on advertisements.

The other search was conducted at the Innovative Film City in Ramanagaram and two other places in Bengaluru.
