The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain in the city for the next three days.
The city received 41.8 mm rainfall till to 8.30 am on Friday. HAL airport received 70.6 mm and Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) received 24.7mm.
Geeta Agnihotri, IMD Bengaluru Director-in-charge told Deccan Herald that rainfall recorded at HAL airport constituted the highest level in 68 years. For the city, the rainfall was the highest level recorded in the last seven years.
Weather models indicate additional rain over the next few days. Rain will start to recede from August 1 onwards.”
According to IMD, rain began after 9.30 pm on Thursday night and lasted until 11.30 pm, during which time the City received 7mm of rain. The storm continued until Friday morning and at 5.30 am, IMD recorded 31.2mm of rain. By 8.30 am, this value had risen to 41.8mm.
On Thursday night, the HAL weather monitoring station recorded 2.6 mm up till 11.30 pm. The level of rainfall received increased to 49 mm upto 5.30 am on Friday morning and to 70.6 mm up to 8.30 am.
On Friday, from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, City received 1.6mm of rain, while HAL received 1.2 mm and Kempegowda International recorded 4.8mm.
