Following many Western countries, Ireland is rapidly becoming the most preferred country to pursue higher education for several Indian students.
Education in Ireland (EIR), a Government of Ireland brand under the authority of the ministry of education and skills, believes that the European country is also developing into a global education hub.
EIR organised an education fair in Bengaluru in which 20 institutions showcased their programmes to local students. “Indian students prefer business, science and engineering programmes,” Barry O’Driscoll, EIR’s senior education adviser, told DH.
“Each year, the number of students from India increases at least by a thousand. From this fair, we hope to increase that number to 5,000,” he added.
O’Driscoll said the Irish government would allow each student a two-year stay-back opportunity to find a suitable job.
“Ireland is not only becoming a preferred destination for Indian students, but it’s also attractive for students from China, America, Canada and the European countries.”
Namratha, a BCom graduate who aspires to pursue higher studies in a foreign university, said, “My sister is in Ireland. I’m also hoping to get admission in the University of Dublin.”
