Actor Yash has been shooting continuously for his film ‘Santhu Straight Forward’ and working simultaneously on another project called ‘KGF’. Both these projects are very demanding and Yash is not only learning to manage his time but also learning to play contrasting emotions.

He feels that it is important to have the right attitude to be able to handle so many projects and excel in all of them.

In an interview with Nina C George, Yash talks about his projects and what keeps him going.

How is ‘Santhu Straight Forward’ coming along?
‘Santhu Straight Forward’ is progressing at a steady pace. I sport a messy and an unkempt look in the film. It’s an unusual role because it traces the life of a young man who stands his ground and doesn’t believe in changing his character just to suit situations or impress others.

How do you relate so well to all the characters that you play?
I have been able to relate rather well to most of the characters that I have played so far because my characters are sometimes similar to my real life. You have to feel the character to be able to express the emotions required for the role.

What is your criteria for choosing a project?
A good script and an equally good team are the criteria for me to choose a film. It is the combination of these two elements that contributes to the success of any project. The two can’t be viewed independently.

What is your role in ‘KGF’?
I can’t talk much about the project but it’s a hero-centric film and is sure to keep people entertained. It has shaped up very well and has exceeded our expectations.

On working again with Radhika Pandit...
It’s always good to work with Radhika. We have been friends for a long time and our combination seems to have clicked well. She’s not only a fabulous actor but is also someone who believes in taking the entire team forward rather than projecting just her work.

What is the secret behind your confidence?
There’s a thin line between arrogance and confidence. I am not arrogant but confident about my work and abilities as an actor. I believe having the right attitude, when it comes to work, is important because only that can take you a long way. Some people think that I am also a bit too aggressive but I think all those who have come up the hard way are a wee bit more confident than the others.

Tell us about your pet project.
I don’t start something unless I feel the urge to do so. The project started under ‘Yashomarga’ set out to supply drinking water to 50 villages across the state but we ended up supplying water to over 200 villages. We were overwhelmed by the response.
