High Court Judge Justice A S Pachapure recused himself from hearing a review petition filed by Vinod Kumar, an advocate from Shimoga, against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and others, in the alleged illegal denotification of land case in Bhadravathi and Shimoga.

Vinod, in his complaint, had alleged that Yeddyurappa had misused his official position and denotified 69 acres of land at Bhadravathi in 2010, and two months’ later, got them transferred to a firm using five ‘benamidars.’

The Lokayukta had dismissed his complaint. Challenging the same, the petitioner had filed a review petition before the High Court ,which was dismissed, as he had not taken sanction from the appropriate authority.

When the petitioner secured the necessary sanctions, he filed a petition again, but this time the judge recused from hearing the case without providing reasons.
