Multiplex owners in Chennai have denied reports of stalling the screening of a Kannada film on Saturday.

There was a rumour that Shuddhi was stalled in the wake of an agitation by Kannada outfits in Bengaluru over remarks made by Tamil actor Sathyaraj on the Cauvery issue nine years ago. A message was doing the rounds on social media that “Mayajaal Multiplex was cancelling Shuddhi and those who had booked tickets would be refunded”. Three Kannada films are presently being screened at Mayajaal — Srinivasa Kalyana, Shuddhi and Chakravarthy. Sources from Mayajaal, located on East Coast Road near the city, denied the rumour and said the shows of the three Kannada films went on as usual.
