A 40-year-old man, who has a travel history to Dubai, has been admitted to Victoria Hospital and is undergoing treatment, well-placed sources told DH on Wednesday. Further investigations are underway to confirm other details of the suspected case.

Mpox caused widespread concern last year, when cases surged in a few African countries and cases began to be reported in other countries, including Pakistan and Thailand. The World Health Organisation (WHO) also declared it a 'Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC)' in August 2024.

The first case of Mpox in India was reported in September 2024. Last month, two cases of Mpox were reported in Kerala.
