The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has become the first airport in the world to clinch the top Airports Council International’s Airport Service Quality Awards for both arrivals and departures.

The Bengaluru airport won the first-ever ASQ Award for arrivals, a category introduced last year and open to airports across the world. ACI World announced that KIA also won the award for Best Airport by size/ region in the 25-40 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA) category in the Asia-Pacific zone.

The ASQ Award recognises airports around the world based on a survey of passenger satisfaction. “The Awards celebrate the achievements of airports in delivering the best customer experience. They represent the highest possible accolade for airport operators around the world,” said ACI World Director General Angela Gittens.

The ASQ Departures programme measures passengers’ satisfaction across 34 key performance indicators. Three-quarters of the world’s 100 busiest airports are part of the ASQ programme. In 2018, more than half of the world’s 8.3 billion travellers passed through an ASQ airport.
