For Lakshmi, a class three student, a walk through the government museum reminded her of the movie Bahubali.

Lakshmi was among the 50 children from Bala Anathashrama in Ullal who visited the government museum on Wednesday. The museum authorities in association with the members of Venkatappa Art Gallery Forum had created several events to create awareness among children on the occasion of the International Museums day.

“I liked the armour and the headgear put on display at the museum. It reminded me of scenes from the movie Bahubali,” Lakshmi said. Shashank, another student from the orphanage, was attracted to the idols of deities and the cannon on display outside the museum.

The day began with a walk through the museum. This was followed by fun-filled activities. The children were divided into groups and asked to excavate ancient pottery pieces from the soil. They were given clay and asked to recreate the idols of their choice.

Manjula C N, Curator, Government Museum, said that they had been organising the event for the last five years.  “Every year, we had drawing competitions and lectures. This time, we hoped to do something different” she added.
