The accused, Praveen TS, a resident of Bannerghatta Road, has been booked under various charges, including attempt to murder, obstructing a public way, intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, and wrongful restraint.

According to the complaint filed by traffic constable Umashankar R, the incident occurred on East End Road around 10.30 am when Praveen, driving his car rashly, took a U-turn from the wrong side on the busy Bannerghatta Road and knocked down a biker.

The constable intervened to manage traffic and asked Praveen to move his vehicle. But Praveen allegedly abused and attacked him.

Praveen is said to have punched Umashankar in the face with his car key and continued the assault until bystanders intervened. The injured constable was taken to a private hospital, and senior officers were informed.

Police later traced and arrested Praveen based on his vehicle details. He was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
