Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced an increase in the monthly medical examination allowance for KSRP personnel from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500.
He also inaugurated the new KSRP convention centre at Silk Board Junction on Wednesday.
The facility was built by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) after the previous centre near Nagawara was demolished to make way for the metro's Blue Line.
Siddaramaiah said their mission wouldn't end until a young woman could walk the streets at midnight without fear. He also commended the Special Action Force and promised necessary funds to make the city crime- and drug-free.
Home Minister G Parameshwara said that the Bengaluru police had set up state-of-the-art command and control centres that can dispatch forces within nine minutes — an initiative inspired by the London police, where response times are under seven minutes. This rapid-response system later came to be known as "Hoysala".
He also mentioned 30 'Safety Islands' across the city, where citizens can alert command centres at the press of a button.
