The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will receive applications for registration of existing borewells till April end. However, reasons for the delay in registering the same needs to be justified in writing.

The Board had set a March 31 deadline earlier and had later extended it to April 3.
A press release issued by the Board stated: “As per the   Karnataka Ground Water  Authority Order and Act 2012, every existing user of groundwater in the notified area will have to register their borewells within 120 days.”

The public may submit duly filled-in application forms to BWSSB division office or sub division office in their respective areas.

Failing this, they will have to pay a penalty of Rs 2,000 or face imprisonment for three months or both.
