The complainant, Sesu Srujan, was driving with friends after the college event. He was dropping off two female friends, when two men approached his car and asked one of the girls to step out of the vehicle to talk to her. When she refused to step out, they allegedly targeted Srujan.

When he refused to exit the vehicle, the suspects, Prajwal and Akshay, reportedly pulled him out of the car. They then hit him on the face, forehead and eyes with their hands, kada (men's bangle) and a ring, causing him to bleed. The attackers also allegedly attempted to hit the victim with a stone before threatening to kill him and fleeing the scene.

Srujan suffered visible injuries, sought medical treatment at a private hospital, and later filed a complaint at the Yelahanka police station.
