A Lokayukta complaint has been registered against the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) commissioner and the officials of Animal Husbandry Department, BBMP on Friday for the increasing cases of stray dog menace in the city.

“At least 130-150 people have died due to the attack of stray dogs in the city since the year 2009 and it is because of the inefficiency of the officials,” the complaint said.

Lodged by the members of Loktantrik Janata Dal-Karnataka, it mentions that the lives of innocent children are at risk due to the non-implementation of Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme which helps in controlling the stray dogs’ births.

“The BBMP has allotted sufficient funds to curb the stray dog menace in the city. However it is not being utilised properly,” said Chandrashekar S, a member of the party.
