Two lovers committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding train near Anekal on Sunday.

The deceased Bharath Kumar, 22, a garment factory employee and Nandini, 21, both residents of Janatha Colony in Karpur Grama at Anekal Taluk, were in love but Nandini’s parents refused to accept their relationship. She was forced to marry a local temple priest in May this year.

Nandini was against the wedding but succumbed to the pressure of her family members and married Shivanna against her wishes, said the police. In the early hours of Sunday, the locals found the mangled remains of the bodies on the railway track and informed the police, who shifted the body for post-mortem.

Kumar was reportedly upset after learning that Nandini had got married to someone else. But they used to meet frequently and Kumar tried to convince Nandini to elope with him.

In the early hours of Sunday, Kumar and Nandini met and decided to commit suicide. They went to a nearby railway track and flung themselves in front of a speeding train. The Baiyappanahalli railway police have registered a case in this regard.
