A special fast-track court has sentenced a 23-year-old man to 10 years’ imprisonment and fined him Rs 50,000 for raping a minor girl in 2017.

Judge M Latha Kumar pronounced the judgement after a detailed hearing of the case on March 10.

A native of Karadigudda in Kanakapura taluk, Anand kidnapped the girl from JP Nagar 6th Phase, took her to a guest house near Kabbalu and raped her, police said.

He warned her against reporting the incident. But her parents found out about it as she developed health issues. They registered a complaint at the Puttenahalli police station.

Police carried out an investigation and submitted a charge sheet at the court. Police said the accused had two wives. While he had two children with the first wife, he had one child through the second. Anand also faces murder charge at the Kanakapura Town police station. He was arrested and released on bail while he sexually assaulted the girl.
