A 28-year-old man brutally assaulted a friend’s wife hours after she foiled his attempts to rape her, police said, adding that the suspect has been arrested.
Naresh, a goods vehicle driver from Chattrimara Dinne, Sarjapur Road, had a huge crush on the woman. He often called her and demanded sexual favours. She ignored him and chose not to inform her husband fearing marital discord.
Things came to a head on Thursday morning when Naresh went to her home after learning that she was alone. He barged into her bedroom and tried to sexually assault her. The woman, however, managed to get rid of him by screaming for help. As neighbours came rushing in, Naresh fled the house.
But he wasn’t done. He returned in the night, this time he was carrying a machete. He charged at the woman and assaulted her with the machete. But he had to flee again as neighbours rushed to her help. The woman sustained
head injuries and was hospitalised.
She later filed a complaint at the jurisdictional Bellandur police station. Police opened a case of attempted murder, sexual harassment and trespass, and tracked Naresh down.
