The Central Crime Branch police raided a room in a hotel in Upparpet and arrested a man for indulging in cricket betting. They also recovered Rs 2.24 lakh and two cellphones from him.

The suspect has been identified as Dinesh Jain, 49, a resident of Rajajinagar. On a tip-off, the police raided room number 320 at Kanishka Hotel in Upparpet and arrested Jain. He was indulging in betting when an IPL match between Kings XII Punjab and Rising Pune Super Giants was under way at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He would contact customers on the phone and receive their bettings on a particular team, said the police.

In another case, the CCB officers raided Jam Jam Articles on Kilari Road in Balepet, recovered fake Ray-Ban sun glasses worth Rs 6.75 lakh and arrested its owner Salahuddin, 40, a resident of Mansura Lane. The raid followed a complaint lodged by a representative of Ray-Ban company.
