Hearing the commotion, a security guard came in and scolded him. Pillai panicked, ran into the housekeeping room and jumped from the window, landing on the ground.

It was alleged that he was lying in a pool of blood for half an hour. Instead of taking him to a hospital, people, including the metro staff, were making videos. It was only after a patrol car arrived at the spot and police called the ambulance that Pillai was taken to Sapthagiri Hospital.

Pillai arrived from Kollam just one-and-a-half-months ago and was living with his parents in Dasarahalli. He was jobless and addicted to drugs. He would often wander aimlessly in the city.

In a statement, the BMRCL stated that a male passenger had complained to the guard about Pillai misbehaving in the washroom. But a BMRCL official said the complainant left immediately.
