Bengaluru: Panic gripped the area near the Kengeri railway station on Wednesday afternoon after a man set himself ablaze and ran about 200 metres along the railway track.

Residents of a nearby apartment complex recorded the incident on video and circulated it among themselves, making it viral.

A senior police officer said the station master filed a case, and the deceased is yet to be identified. The man is believed to be around 45 years old.

Around 1.45 pm, he was seen walking on the track towards Nayandahalli. He poured petrol on himself, set himself on fire, and ran for a few minutes before collapsing.

Onlookers tried to rescue him, but he sustained severe burns and died on the spot. Police found no mobile phone or identification documents on him.
