A father and son drowned on Monday evening after they went swimming in the Bagalur lake in Mylanahalli in northeast Bengaluru. Their bodies were recovered on Tuesday.
The police identified the deceased as Jitendra Sharma (38), a carpenter, and his eight-year-old son Luv Kusha. They were residents of Bagalur and hailed from Uttar Pradesh.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Sharma took his son for swimming and both drowned later, said district fire officer, Hebbal, Maruthi.
The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when villagers noticed their clothes lying on the lakebed and alerted the police and fire and emergency personnel. A rescue team was pressed into service, which recovered the bodies within half an hour.
A case has been registered, and the bodies have been handed over to the family.
