A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death by his friend during a drunken brawl in Cottonpet on Friday.
Imran, 22, a resident of Siddapura near Lalbagh, is the victim. His friend Anand, an auto driver, has been arrested by the police. On Friday night, Imran and Anand went to a bar consumed liquor. They then had a fight over some financial matter, and in a fit of rage, Anand stabbed Imran repeatedly. Imran suffered injuries on the abdomen, chest and back and collapsed. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Anand fled from the spot after committing the murder. But acting on definite tips, police arrested him. Anand told the police that Imran owed him money and since he was unable to repay the loan, he wanted to take revenge. “We are verifying his claims and would probe the matter," said a police officer.
