The city police are on the manhunt for a man who used Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy's name to demand money from KPSC aspirants for leaking the question papers.

The suspect is Ramachandra Nayak,  a resident of Hakkihallathanda,  Kushtagi taluk, Koppal district.

Rayareddy lodged a complaint with
Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar on January  12 after a news channel aired a sting
operation about Nayak claiming to be very close to the minister and offering question papers to a few government job aspirants for money.

Nayak often visits Bengaluru and stays in room number 288 at the Legislators' Home (LH) allotted to Rayareddy.

In  his complaint, Rayareddy stated: "Nayak has no personal contact with me. He has misused my office."

The minister said that he allowed Nayak to stay in the room based on the recommendation of one Basavaraj Kali, a resident of Thalikeri in Kushtagi taluk.
