The last rites of Sri Suyateendrateertha swami, the seer of the Mantralaya Raghavendraswamy Mutt, were performed in Mantralaya on Friday, reports DHNS from Raichur.

The 80-year-old pontiff passed away early on Friday morning after a brief illness. The ailing seer handed over the administration of the Mutt to his successor, Sri Subhudhendrateertha swami, on March 10.

The senior seer was treated at the Raghavendraswamy mutt at Barkathpur in Hyderabad for age-related problems and lung infection. He was interred in the Brindavan (tomb) constructed next to that of his mentor, Sushameendrateertha.
