Bengaluru: Mass recruiters are back on the campuses of engineering colleges after a gap of two years, bringing cheer to colleges this placement season.
To add to the good news, colleges are also witnessing a 30 per cent increase in pay packages being offered, with the minimum packages being offered ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
According to placement officers, the reason why mass hirers such as Capgemini, TCS, Infosys, Accenture etc are sought-after at campuses are two-fold: they hire more students and the eligibility criteria they follow is simple.
Talking about the advantage of having mass hirers on campus, Prof Sridhar KS, Registrar and Dean of Placement and Training, PES University, said "they allow students from all branches and follow simple eligibility criteria".
Prof Guru Venkatesh M N, placement head of Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, said mass recruiters stayed away from campuses for the last two years, but they have made up for it as the number of them visiting this year has increased by 30 per cent.
"Another important thing", Venkatesh pointed out, is even the "packages offered by mass recruiters have increased by 30%".
Prof H N Ramesh, director and principal of Oxford College of Engineering, said that seven mass hiring companies had visited their campus so far and "nine more companies are lined up to visit".
"The turnout this year is good compared to last two years," Ramesh added.
This sentiment was also echoed by S M Dilip Kumar, Head, Placement and Training at University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, who said the response from mass hiring companies has been good this year.
