The department of Health and Family Welfare has suspended Dr Murali Krishna, administrative medical officer, Anekal general hospital, in connection with denial of ambulance service to the family of a child who died in a road accident.

Raheem (3) met with an accident and he was brought dead to Anekal hospital on Sunday. His father had to carry the body of his son on a two-wheeler since ambulance was not provided. V S Ugrappa, chairperson of the expert committee on prevention of sexual violence against women and children, had recommended action against officials responsible for administrative lapses. Dr Krishna has been suspended following a report submitted by Bengaluru Urban district health officer.

The district administration has been asked to pay Rs 5,000 to the boy’s family towards funeral expenses.
