Metro worker dies at depot

Police said Makhan (22) from Madhya Pradesh was sitting on a cement block at the depot when the lorry on Metro duty hit him. He suffered injuries in the abdomen and was rushed to Bowring hospital, where he died of injuries.

An autopsy was conducted and the body sent to his home state by train, police said.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has not made the matter public and its representatives were not available for comment on Friday even after repeated attempts by this newspaper to get in touch with them.

The truck (KA 53 9769) belongs to Muthu of Devasandra near K R Puram. While the vehicle hired by the BMRCL through contract has been seized, the driver is absconding.

Killed in accident

A 56-year-old man was killed instantly when he was knocked down by a BMTC Volvo bus in Madivala area on Thursday.

The accident took place at Agara junction in Sarjapura when Thimmaiah was riding a two-wheeler with his daughter Dakshayini in the pillion seat. Dakshayini sustained minor injuries, police said.
