Mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun has made an official announcement to hold mandatory ward committee meetings at 11.30 am on the first Saturday of every month.

She announced this during the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council meeting held on Wednesday.

After 40 volunteers of the Citizens for Bengaluru (CfB) met the mayor and Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad, Gangambike directed that all ward committees across 198 wards should meet on the first Saturday of every month.

“I don't know if this time is feasible for people or not. But it is important for all ward committee members to compulsorily hold monthly meetings to discuss ward matters. Not just the members, all interested people should also join,” she said, speaking to DH.

Meanwhile, Srinivas Alavalli and Tara Krishnaswamy, members of CfB, said that it was a huge victory for them ahead of Kannada Rajyotsava.
