A motorcyclist was killed on the spot, while two pillion riders suffered minor injuries, in a road accident in Whitefield early Monday morning.
The victim was identified as Shivaraju, 23, a resident of Whitefield and native of Bangarpet in Kolar district. He was employed with a private firm. The two injured, Santosh, 23, and Jayatheertha, 23, both residents of Whitefield, were treated as outpatients at a private hospital.
The accident occurred at 1.35 am when the three were proceeding from Whitefield to Marathalli. Shivaraju was riding his bike with Santosh and Jayatheertha on the pillion. He lost balance and crashed into a pavement. All the three were tossed in the air and came down crashing. Shivaraju suffered massive head injuries as he was not wearing a helmet, said the police.
Passersby called the police and the trio were taken to a nearby hospital where Shivaraju was declared dead on arrival.
