Murder attempt foiled

The CCB police claimed to have foiled a murder attempt by arresting four rowdies recently.

The arrested are Manikantha (24), a resident of Kurubarahalli, Lokesh (24) of Vyalikaval, Srikanth (23) of Laggere and Preetham (19) of Mavalli. The prime suspect, Manikantha, was allegedly involved in seven cases. He was absconding and was not attending the court hearing in seven cases.

On a tip-off, the police arrested them at Hudson Circle when they were waiting for their rival gang members.

Manikantha was allegedly involved in two attempts to murder cases, one chain snatching, one dacoity case in different parts of the City.

Worker killed

A construction worker was killed on the spot when an iron rod fell on his head while he was working in an under-construction apartment block in Kothanur police limits on Saturday evening.

Maruti, 19, hailed from Raichur and was living in a makeshift shed in the construction site.

Maruthi was working in the 14th floor of a 33-storey building being constructed at Gubbi Cross in Kothnur when the mishap took place at 4 pm. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. The police have registered cases against the owners.
