Bengaluru: Namma Metro received the third trainset for the Yellow Line on Tuesday night.
The six coaches were coupled to form a trainset and moved to the inspection bay line at the Hebbagodi depot, Electronics City, where static tests will be carried out in the coming days.
This has ignited hopes of operations beginning on the Yellow Line soon.
Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) dispatched the coaches in two batches from its West Bengal plant: three coaches in late April, followed by three more on May 2, by Electric Bogie Tractors (EBT).
These will be part of the first three trains to run on the 19.15-km Yellow Line, connecting RV Road with Bommasandra.
M Maheshwar Rao, BMRCL Managing Director, had earlier told DH that inspection and testing will follow in the next couple of weeks.
The BMRCL hopes the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (Southern Circle) will conduct the statutory inspection of the Yellow Line by the end of this month. The BMRCL has already invited the CMRS for statutory inspection and submitted the requisite documents.
If all goes well, the Yellow Line might become operational by June-end, with three trains, five to six limited stops — RV Road, Jayadeva, Silk Board, Infosys, Hebbagodi, and Bommasandra — and a headway of 20 to 25 minutes, said an official.
