Parvathamma of Jamboosavari Dinne had lodged a complaint with the police that her 17-year-old daughter was constantly being troubled by a local rowdy Muniraju.
When Parvathamma and her husband asked him to desist, he threatened them. The girl was kidnapped on March 15 and the girl’s father Munivenkatappa lodged a complaint with the Bannerghatta police, but they were unable to trace her.
The parents learnt that the girl was being detained in the house of one Muniyappa of Malur and this was conveyed to the police. The petitioner complained that the police took no action, so they went to Malur. But the girl had already been moved from that place.
They found her watch and clothes in the house. A habeas corpus petiton was then filed to trace the girl. A division bench headed by Justice K Shreedar Rao, ordered issue of non-bailable warrants against Muniraju, his father Venkateshappa and Muniyappa. The Court also ordered the seizure of properties of the three, if they could not be traced.
Police ordered to trace girl
The High Court has directed the police to produce a 14-year-old missing girl in the Court on Monday.
The petitioner, J M Samuel an ex-serviceman from Ejipura had lodged a complaint that his daughter was kidnapped from her school on December 12, 2009. He lodged a complaint with Viveknagar police, stating that she had been abducted by Muniraj, also hailing from Ejipura. Muniraj (23) was an employee with a firm in Koramanagala. Records show that Muniraj stopped coming to the office after December 12. The petitioner alleged that the police had not made sincere attempts to trace the girl.
The police submitted that they had sent messages to their counterparts in Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and they had also collected personal information on him. The police sought six week’s time to trace the girl, but the Division Bench gave time only till Monday.
