A couple, who had married just a week ago, were killed in an accident near Aradesanahalli, between Yelahanka and Doddaballapur on Tuesday early morning.

The deceased have been identified as Raja, 24, and Satya, 22. The couple hailed from Jharkhand and were residing in a rented house in Yelahanka. Raja was working as a security guard at Nitte Institute. He had married Satya from his hometown a week ago in the City. On Tuesday morning the couple were on their way to Doddaballapur to visit Raja’s elder sister's house in the town.

Raja was riding the bike with Satya as pillion. As the bike neared Aradesanahalli between Yelahanka and Doddaballapur, a speeding cement mixer lorry coming from the opposite side rammed the bike head-on.

The impact was so enormous that the couple were thrown in the air. Satya suffered severe head injury while Raja was run over by the cement mixer lorry. Rajanukunte police have registered a case.

The driver of the lorry abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
