The National Green Tribunal has given a week’s time to the petitioners and the government to submit their written submissions on the controversial steel flyover.

The NGT southern bench is likely to give its verdict after petitioners N S Mukund, founder president of Citizens’ Action Forum, former additional chief secretary V Balasubramanian, and members of Citizens for Bengaluru and respondents Bengaluru Development Authority and contractor Larsen & Toubro, give their submissions in writing.

On Wednesday, there was a heated argument between the petitioners and respondents. Both BDA and L&T argued that environmental clearance was not required for a steel flyover. The proposed flyover project involves both an elevated corridor and widening of the existing (Hebbal) flyover, said one of the lawyers representing the government.
